Ways to Wear It – Gray Tee

Ways to Wear It – Gray Tee

We always talk about the importance of having a great white tee in your closet staples collection, however, we sometimes overlook the amazing versatility of the grey tee. First, it’s a neutral, which means it goes with everything. Plus, if you’re having a hard time finding a white tee, or perhaps white is just not your color, then a perfect alternative is a gray tee. It’s also super easy to style and comes in many different shades so you’re sure to find one that beautifully compliments your skin tone.

If you don’t have a gray tee, we highly recommend you add it to your closet arsenal. Also, it’s okay to have more than one of these. Between the different necklines and sleeve lengths, having a couple of styles will help you get through all the different seasons. But for now, let’s focus on summer with these three great ways to style a gray tee – perfect for the rising temps!

Option #1

Gray Tee + White Bottoms + Bright Shoes + Neutral Handbag

A gray tee is styled with white shorts or crop pants and red sandals.

For this first look, we styled the gray tee with white bottoms. The choice is yours as far as the option of shorts or pants but feel free to style with a skirt as well. And yes, brown and gray do go together in this classic outfit. Finally, the look is finished off with some red sandals but truly any color will complement this look perfectly.

Option #2

Denim Jacket + Gray Tee + Bright Bottoms + White Sneakers + Color Tote

A denim jacket is styled with a gray tee, Kelly green shorts and white sneakers.

For outfit number two we really had fun playing with color. First, we added a denim jacket because sometimes the mornings and evenings can still be a little cool. Then we paired the gray tee with some fun bright shorts and stayed casual with some white sneakers. Lastly, the look is finished off with some more color with a coordinating bright tote.

Option #3

Neutral Cardigan + Gray Tee + Medium Wash Bottoms + Snake Print Shoes + Color Tote

This outfit is styled with a beige cardigan, a gray tee and medium washed shorts finished off with snake print sandals.

Finally, for the last look, we stayed pretty simple with a neutral cardigan against the gray tee and some medium-wash shorts. Feel free to sub in jeans or again, a skirt would look fabulous too! We couldn’t stay away from a fun pop of color by adding a red handbag but we also added print in the form of snake print sandals, which don’t forget, are also a neutral.

Your turn! What’s your favorite way to wear a gray tee?

Five WAYS TO WEAR IT – SWEATER VEST

Five WAYS TO WEAR IT – SWEATER VEST

I’m back with an all-new Five Ways To Wear It and this month I’m featuring the sweater vest. The sweater vest is very much on trend this fall but I know not everyone is a fan. At first, I wasn’t sure if I was able to go back to this trend. It’s true that sometimes when you’ve already lived through a trend, it’s hard to go back. Although this trend may have been reminiscent of the 90s, I promise that you can make it modern. Below I’m styling a houndstooth sweater vest and showing you five different ways you can style it. The classic white button-down with jeans is pretty classic and can be seen all over Pinterest but if you know me, I’m all about finding many different ways to wear something. If it’s going to take up space in my closet, it can’t just be a one-trick pony.

I originally bought this vest off Shein which was a first for me. (I know a lot of our Pretties are curious about this site too) The chain link shoes are from there as well. My girls have ordered from them before so I decided to give it a try and I’m happy I did. I’m thrilled with these pieces and the price was even better. I still recommend reading reviews if there are any because some items can be tricky however they seem pretty good about returns. Just be sure to read all the return and exchange info. Unfortunately, the vest I ordered has limited sizes left. Not to worry though, at the bottom of this post I listed some other similar houndstooth sweater vest options. Now, let’s check out my five ways to wear a sweater vest!

Option #1

Printed Vest + White Tee + Medium Wash Jeans + Bright Shoes

As mentioned above, I selected a black and white houndstooth print for my sweater vest and since it’s still on the hot side in Texas I decided to pair it up with my white tee. You can opt for either a v-neck or crew neck, just make sure the necklines of both the top and the vest line up nicely. Then I choose my medium wash distressed jeans. If you don’t like the distressed look then solid medium wash jeans are totally fine. I finished this look off with a pop of color by adding my red mules. I love the classic look of black, white, and red paired together but any bright shoes will work. Maybe try pink or a pretty fall yellow.

Option #2

Printed Vest + White Button-Down + Gray Bottoms + Black Shoes

For my second look, I paired my sweater vest with a white button-down. To help with proportions I opted to leave my button-down untucked and hanging out the bottom of my sweater. Feel free to try tucked and untucked to see what style you like best. I then added my gray jeans and finished off with my black mules that feature another one of the season’s trends, chunky chain links.

Option #3

Printed Vest + CHambray Shirt + Color Denim + Leopard Shoes

For look number three I decided to change up everything and opt for a button-down chambray shirt. Chambray is a neutral and will go with whatever sweater vest print you choose. Again, I left it untucked and paired it up with some color denim bottoms. In this case, I choose a brown, tobacco color which is perfect for fall, and finished off with some leopard mules because you know I just got to get my leopard in, right?

Option #4

Printed Vest + White Button-Down + Medium Wash Jeans + Black Shoes

Look number four I’m back to my white button-down but swapped out the gray jeans for my medium wash distressed ones. I also decided to tone this one down and style with my black mules with the chunky chain links.

Option #5

Printed Vest + Chambray Shirt + Black Leggings + Black Combat Boots

For my last look, I styled my sweater vest with my button-down chambray shirt, and this time I added my black leggings. This would also work with my faux leather leggings or even my black denim pants. I finished this look off with my black combat boots from last fall. Combat boots are still very much on trend this season and not only do they look great, but they are also really comfortable!

Five Ways to Wear It – How to Style A Denim Jacket

Five Ways to Wear It – How to Style A Denim Jacket

I’m back with an all-new Five Ways to Wear It and this time I’m showing you how to style a denim jacket. You may be saying to yourself, ‘Alison, isn’t a denim jacket more of a spring thing?’ Yes, but it’s also a great thing to have in summer and let me tell you why. First, for our Pretties in a chillier climate, the weather is fickle and you never know when you’re going to have cooler weather especially in the mornings and possibly the evenings making this the perfect layering piece. Second, for our Pretties living in super hot climates, while it may be hot outside, inside the A/C is cranking making it necessary to carry a layering piece so you don’t freeze in your summer attire. I always have a layering piece with me when we go out and the denim jacket is one of my favorites.

Below are five easy ways to style your denim jacket using Outfit Formulas® meaning you can adapt them even further to fit your lifestyle and climate. This is a timeless piece making it an essential closet staple. If you don’t have one yet I highly recommend one as you will get countless uses out of it. I suggest starting out with a medium wash as it will have the most versatility but ultimately, pick whatever wash suits you best. Now let’s check out five ways to style a denim jacket!

Option #1

Denim Jacket + White Tee + Khaki Bottoms + White Sneakers

For my first look, I started with my take on a monochromatic outfit with a white top and light khaki bottoms. I finished off this casual look with my white sneakers. This look is the perfect base for my denim jacket. These shorts from Old Navy are ridiculously comfortable I’ve already gotten several wears out of them this summer and my sneakers make this the ultimate outfit for running some errands.

Option #2

Denim Jacket + Solid Top + White Bottoms + Colorful Shoes

Outfit number two is a bit dressier. I paired a solid tee with one of my favorite summer pieces, a white eyelet skirt. Colorful flip coordinate with my top and then, of course, I topped it off with my denim jacket. I love the way the denim plays off the white skirt and by cuffing the sleeves of the jacket, I easily add some extra detail and interest. The colorful flip flops I’m wearing are from J.Crew Factory and were so popular they are now sold out however I did find another fun, colorful pair from Target.

Option #3

Denim Jacket + White Top + Bright Bottoms + Colorful Shoes

Look number three I’m back to my solid white tee but this time I’m stepping away from my monochromatic look and opting for some bright green shorts and colorful flip-flops. I love the scalloped detail of these green shorts! If green shorts aren’t for you, no problem! By using the formula, any bright color shorts will work then finish off with your denim jacket.

Option #4

Denim Jacket + Printed Dress + Neutral Shoes

Outfit number four, back to the dressier side. At first, I wasn’t sure how I was going to like this sundress but once I tried it on it was a heck yes! I paired it with some neutral shoes but this outfit would also look great with a bright color shoe that coordinates with one of the colors in the dress. I added a hat to help keep the sun off my face and of course topped with my denim jacket.

Option #5

Denim Jacket + White Top + Printed Bottoms + Neutral Shoes

My last look combines color and comfort! I paired my solid pink tee with my printed striped shorts and added in my neutral, raffia slides from J.Crew Factory. Raffia accessories are really on-trend this summer and I’ve already worn these slides so many times. Unfortunately, there are only limited sizes left, however, these raffia slides from Target are equally as cute! My denim jacket is the perfect topper for this colorful ensemble. Now I’m ready to go enjoy some lunch with my girls!

Five Ways to Wear It – Tie-Dye

Five Ways to Wear It – Tie-Dye

Hi Pretties! I’m back with an all-new Ways to Wear It and I’m featuring a trend that I’ll admit I resisted at first. That’s because it’s one I’ve done before, a LONG time ago. But now, I’ve crossed over and have fallen back in love with tie-dye. It’s fun, it’s colorful and it can be as bold or as subtle as you want. It can also be found in so many different items and accessories but for this Ways to Wear It I’m styling it as a top and I’m featuring two different tie-dye patterns since I couldn’t pick just one. If you’re not sure about tie-dye, it’s okay. Don’t be afraid to step out of your comfort zone and give it a try. Just think of it as another example of a pattern. There are stripes, leopard print, snake print, and now tie-dye!

Option #1

Overalls + Tie-Dye Top + White Sneakers

For the first look, I’m featuring two major trends of the spring, tie-dye AND overalls! These are both trends that I have worn many, many years ago and I’m finding it both fun and nostalgic to be wearing them again. I forgot how comfy overalls are! There are only a few sizes left in the tie-dye shirt I’m wearing from Old Navy but here is a similar one. I finished off the look with my new white sneakers that have a fun metallic accent on the side and some leopard in the back.

Option #2

Tie-Dye Top + Olive Bottoms + White Sneakers

Outfit number two features the second tie-dye top in my closet which is a simple mix of pink and white. This tie-dye sweatshirt is perfect for those cooler spring days. I paired it with my olive jeans, which don’t forget, count as a neutral, and finished off again with my new white sneakers. This is a great casual outfit that feels both comfortable and put together.

Option #3

Utility Jacket + Tie-Dye Top + White Bottoms + White Sneakers

Outfit number three I’m back to my blue and white tie-dye tee but this time I paired it up with my white jeans and topped it off with my olive utility jacket. This utility jacket has been a staple in my closet for years and I love the way the oversized collar has a sort of flow to it. I rolled up the sleeves a few times for some added interest and finished off this look with my comfy, go-to white sneakers. There are only a few sizes left in the tie-dye shirt I’m wearing from Old Navy but here is a similar one.

Option #4

Tie-Dye Top + Light Wash Jeans + Neutral Sandals

Now on to look number four! I’m keeping this look ultra simple. I’m sticking with my blue and white tie-dye tee and matched it up with a pair of high-waisted, medium wash jeans with a little bit of fraying around the bottoms. I decided to show off my pink pedi for this look by adding in my brown sandals which are one of the souvenirs I brought back from Greece a few years ago. I found a similar pair from DSW. Also, there are only a few sizes left in the tie-dye shirt I’m wearing from Old Navy but here is a similar one.

Option #5

Utility Jacket + Tie-Dye Top + Medium wash Jeans + White Sneakers

Last but certainly not least, look number five! I’m back to my cozy pink and white tie-dye sweatshirt paired with my high-waisted, medium wash jeans and added in my olive utility jacket. Then I kept the cozy train going and finished off with my white sneakers. Dressing in any sort of layers is perfect for spring and its sometimes unpredictable weather. It’s not uncommon to feel like I’m going through all four seasons in the same day. Cold in the morning, hot by lunch, and cool by the evening.

Ways to Wear It – Joggers

Ways to Wear It – Joggers

Hey, Pretties! I am back with another five Ways To Wear It and this one is going to be super timely because I’m styling joggers! Love them or hate them it seems joggers are now basically a part of our daily uniforms. They’ve replaced yoga pants as the new go-to favorite for a comfy casual style. And honestly, I totally get it. I have been living in my joggers and, yes, my yoga pants too ever since the pandemic started. They’re just so easy to throw on and pair up with pieces that I already have in my closet. Today I’m going to show you five ways to wear them with pieces that you might have in your closet to give you some fresh inspiration and some new looks that may turn into your go-to favorites.

Option #1

Gray Top + Black Joggers + Black Sneakers

Here we go with look number one! This is super casual, but exactly how I would style my joggers for a day at home. Especially on a day like today when it’s raining outside and all I want to do is be warm, comfy, and cozy. I’ve got on my joggers with my favorite gray sweatshirt that I got at Banana Republic and I finished it off with my favorite kicks from Nike. These are my favorite shoes I wear for running and I wear them for running errands too.

Also a few tips on your joggers. The pair that I have is from Amazon. They’re made of a more structured and silkier fabric so they’re not your traditional sweatsuit material, which is good. I recommend that your joggers be slightly more structured and not as sloppy looking as your basic pair of sweatpants that you would throw on. I like to pull the cuffs up on mine because I think it gives it a sportier look. These joggers do run a little bit short, I’m pretty sure that they’re capri length.

Option #2

Neutral Cardigan + Graphic Tee + Black Joggers + White Sneakers

Now for look number two! I am busting out some favorite cozy closet staples that I’ve been wearing all winter long. I paired my joggers up with my graphic tee but you could also sub in a plain white tee and topped it off with my cozy cardigan from H&M which I absolutely love! Then I finished off this look with my Adidas sneakers just to give it a sporty, casual vibe. This is super easy and you can swap out these pieces for any tee shirt and cardigan in your closet and any pair of sneakers.

Option #3

Camo Top + Black Joggers + White Sneakers

Outfit number three and this one, super casual too and super easy. I’m going back to camo because I wore my camo sweatshirt all fall and I carried it over to winter and guess what, I’m pretty sure we’re going to be seeing camo for spring too! So hold on to your camo pieces. I paired this up again with my Adidas sneakers to keep it super simple.

Option #4

Denim Jacket + Striped Top + Black Joggers + Snake Print Shoes

Outfit number four has me dreaming of spring. I can’t wait, it’s just around the corner and I know that I’m definitely going to pair up this outfit this spring. I’ve got on my striped artist tee from J.Crew Factory with my basic denim jacket, and I added in my snake print sneakers for a little bit of pattern mix and fun.

Option #5

Black Sweater + Black Joggers + Snake Print Shoes

Outfit number five. Y’all ready for this? Every time we do a five Ways To Wear It I like to find at least one outfit that’s going to be a total comfort zone buster and this is it for me. I would normally not wear joggers dressed up like this, but I’ve seen plenty of bloggers do it and pull it off beautifully. I thought, hey, what the heck, why not try it? This time I paired up my joggers with an off the shoulder cozy, comfy sweater and some snake print heels. Now, you could definitely pull this look off with snake print sneakers or flats and totally do the same thing. It’s still a little bit dressier than your basic sweatshirt or denim jacket and T-shirt and joggers, but it’s a little bit of fun to get dressed up once in a while.

All right, that’s it, five ways to wear joggers. Which way is your favorite? Let me know in the comments and also if you found a favorite way to style your joggers that I did not cover in this video, then please share it with us in the comments.
