Show of hands, who’s done with their holiday shopping? Who’s almost done? Who hasn’t even started yet? Usually, I’m pretty on it. I have my list and I know what I’m getting but this year I’m in a rut trying to find the perfect gifts. It could be that my kids are getting older and the traditional kid toys just don’t cut it anymore. That’s when I had the idea that I wanted to give our family what I call a Lazy Day (or maybe a few). The time between Christmas and the New Year when work has slowed and the kids are off school. It’s time to reconnect now that we’re back to our crazy life.
As a mom, I always feel like I should be doing something, dishes, laundry, cleaning, something that feels productive. Well if I’ve learned anything recently, taking the time to stop, be present, and spend time with my family doing nothing is just as good for me as it is for them. Now that doesn’t mean our lazy day won’t include some fun. I don’t want to break the bank but I also hate waiting for Black Friday however with Walmart’s Deals for Days, I don’t have to! I can have access to great deals online now and they run until November 28th. But I don’t want to wait as quantities are limited so let’s get shopping!
1. Pajamas
No lazy day is complete without pajamas, right? I don’t treat myself to new pajamas very often, well ever, if I’m being honest so this category is more for me although I’m finding lots of cute pajamas for the family. Nothing says a fun lazy day like being in pajamas. I know this doesn’t fit the ‘GYPO getting dressed every day,’ but I have a feeling Alison would approve of this especially since the pajamas are leopard.
Step two of this lazy day gift involves a little entertainment. We love to play games, be it board games, puzzles, or even video games. My kids currently play my SEGA from the 1990s so I thought it might be fun to surprise the kids with a gaming system that’s a bit more recent. The kitchen is done and the time has finally come to put it to work! This is the day that has been a few years in the making! We are having the whole family over for the first time in two years and I’ll be cooking in my new kitchen complete with FOUR ovens. It’s a dream come true in every possible way! Psst, I also have these in white! While I did go with an ankle boot for this look you could easily opt for flats or even a knee-high boot.

Getting the House Ready For Guests
I want to make sure my home feels extra cozy and welcoming this holiday season so I’m adding a few extra festive touches. Throw pillows are always a must and a cozy blanket for after-dinner dozing and movie watching. It’s definitely time to upgrade my coffee maker for coffee and desserts! An air purifier will help remove dust and odors from the air with all the company passing through and for those quick cleanups, a lightweight stick vacuum is perfect!
I’m so excited to have out of town family home for the holidays. To see their reactions in person when opening their presents is awesome and the ability to share a meal together and relax afterward is priceless! This year it’s a jacket, hat, and scarf set for my daughter, earrings for mom, and a one-step hair dryer for my sister to help save her time in the morning! Did I mention some fleece-lined leggings for myself? Plus I can use Walmart’s Fashion Gift Guide to help me finish my list!
I don’t know about you but the men in my family love being outdoors whether the sun is shining or the snow is falling. While the snow isn’t falling yet, it will be and there’s no better way to warm up than with hot chocolate by the fire. A quilted jacket is perfect for my husband and a heated vest for my dad who loves gadgets.
Stocking stuffers get me every year and I end up running around last minute trying to come up with great ideas. Not this year though! I’m getting ahead of the game with these great ideas plus these new monogrammed stockings are perfect!

I’ve been participating in the GYPO Style Challenges for three years now and I’ve loved it. I’ve always loved clothes, but I didn’t know how to put outfits together. My closet is now full of mix-and-match outfits, I have learned how to dress myself, and there is no more stress in figuring out to wear. The private FB group is full of wonderful ladies that build each other up. It’s so fun and is seriously the best group on FB.
