You’ve heard me say it a time or two but I’m going to say it again…the simple outfits are always my favorite!
And today’s SAHMonday outfit is exactly that – as simple as it gets.
A basic neutral sweater and gray jeans can feel ordinary but the little details are what keep it from being boring. Details like frayed or released hems on the jeans (hint – this is a HUGE trend for spring!) and gold sneakers.
If you’re new around here, SAHMonday is weekly outfit inspiration just for the stay at home and work from home moms of the world (like me!) who aren’t heading out of the house on Monday morning. You can check out the other outfits in this series here.
These outfits are perfect for when you want to feel comfortable, yet put together, so that you can face the day and any errands you may need to run. Plus, most of these outfit formulas can be pulled straight from your closet. If you don’t have my exact pieces, that’s ok. Just use one of the substitutions that I recommend.
Today’s SAHMonday outfit formula is what I threw on to run some errands and shuttle my girls around to their activities. All you need is a beige sweater, gray jeans or jeggings and a pair of gold sneakers or ballet flats. Add in some minimal accessories like earrings, a delicate necklace and a leather wrap bracelet.
Beige Sweater + Gray Jeggings + Gold Sneakers

I just love the frayed hem on these jeggings! (Excuse the dirt on the front of my sneakers, I just got back from the barn.) 🙂

Happy Friday, pretties! This week flew by in the blink of an eye, didn’t it? Here’s a list of some of my favorite things that made this week just a little better.
Favorite #1 – Awards Banquet
This past weekend was our 12 year-old daughter Ava’s end of year awards banquet for the North Texas Hunter Jumper Club. It’s the local club that she competes in at horse shows. This was her first official season showing on her pony Jazzy and she ended up with two fifth place finishes overall for equitation. We were very proud of her! Here’s a shot of the two of them in action.
This is us at the banquet. It’s rare to get a picture of her with her hair fixed, let alone wearing a dress! But all of the horse girls cleaned up quite nicely. 🙂

Favorite #2 – IT Cosmetics “Brow Power”
In case you missed it, I did a tutorial on how to fake perfect brows on Facebook Live last week. I also revealed my secret weapon, IT Cosmetics “Brow Power” eyebrow pencil. It’s seriously the best ever! Watch the video for my tips and keep an eye out for more makeup tutorials coming soon.
Favorite #3 – Wedding Dress Preservation
It only took 18 years but I’ve finally checked this off my list – my wedding dress got cleaned and preserved! If this is something you’ve put off too, let me tell you that it’s not too late. Mine was hanging in a closet, never dry cleaned and had yellow spots on the bodice. Our dry cleaner was able to get the spots out and send it off to be preserved and here’s the finished product.

Now I have a keepsake for my daughters and it looks as good as the day it was worn.

Favorite #4 – Patagonia Jacket
We’ve been having above normal temperatures for this time of the year so I’ve been wearing my Patagonia “Better Sweater” pretty much every single day. It’s so easy to throw on with everything and is just the right weight to keep the chill off. In case you missed this week’s SAHMonday post, this is how I paired it up.

Favorite #5 – Frank Sinatra
OK, so maybe this is just a sign that I’m getting old, but I listen to the Frank Sinatra station on Sirius XM more than anything else these days. Honestly though, I’ve always loved standards, even as a teenager. Lately some of his lesser known tunes like “Moonlight in Vermont” are becoming my favorites.

Plus, old blue eyes has made me realize something, I’m really a tramp. Have you ever listened to the lyrics of “The Lady is a Tramp”? It’s pretty much me. 🙂
“She gets too hungry for dinner at eight
She likes the theater and never comes late
She’d never bother with people she’d hate
That’s why the lady is a tramp”
On that note, have a great weekend!

Today I’m starting a new monthly series called Work Wear Wednesday. One of the key findings in my reader survey is that 60% of you are working outside the home. While you love the casual outfits for evenings and weekends, you’re also looking for some office appropriate inspiration. Even if you don’t work outside the home, these outfits are a great starting point for other dressier outfit occasions.
Every Sunday, I’ve been posting a work wear outfit over on my Facebook page to get your week started off on the right foot. If you haven’t seen it yet, be sure to like my page so you don’t miss out! I’ll also be rolling up all of the weekly outfits into this post on the last Wednesday of each month.

Do your kids play sports? All three of our kids have been heavily involved in sports since they could walk! Our son played football until he graduated from high school and now both of our girls are in pretty time consuming activities. Our oldest daughter is a competitive cheerleader and our youngest is an equestrian.
Needless to say, a lot of my wardrobe revolves around shuttling them around and going to their sporting events and practices.
Cheer activities are pretty easy to dress for, they’re indoors in climate controlled areas. But the equestrian stuff? Not so much. I end up getting dirty 90% of the time because there’s mud and/or dust everywhere. Plus it’s almost entirely outdoors so layering up is important. Today’s SAHMonday outfit is a typical one that I wear for my twice daily trips to the barn and horse shows.

Today’s SAHMonday outfit formula is my horse show uniform. It would also work great for soccer games or any outdoor activity your kiddos get into. All you need is a lightweight jacket, plaid shirt, your favorite jeans and a pair of riding boots (rain boots work great with this too!)

It’s Fri-YAY! Time for another round of my favorite things this week. Let’s just jump right in!
Favorite #1 – Cheer Competition
We are right in the thick of competitive cheer competition season. My daughter’s team competed at ACA Nationals last weekend in Fort Worth and won first place in their division! They were pretty proud of those hard earned jackets. We have another competition coming up this weekend.
Favorite #2 – Simple Outfits
This was my idea of “spirit wear” for the first day of the competition. We have team t-shirts but it was cold so I opted to wear a sweater instead. Their team color is teal so at least my teal cords were “on point”. 🙂

[Sweater: Similar/Teal Cords: Same/Wrap Bracelet: Same/Riding Boots: Same]
BREAKING NEWS! These cords are now ON SALE for just $15.88! Most sizes are still in stock, get them while you can. I have them in teal, winter white and gray. Here’s a pic so you can see all three.

January seems to be my month for making over rooms in our house. Last year, we brought the formal living/dining area into this decade and this year it’s our bedroom.
It’s a work in progress but so far, I’ve gotten a new bed and nightstands. Just about everything that I’ve gotten so far has been from Wayfair. I love them SO much more than traditional furniture stores. The shipping is fast and free and they have an amazing selection. There are links below to a few items I’ve gotten from them.
Here’s a tiny sneak peek of our bedroom. I’ll do a post of the final product when it’s complete.

The linens and decorative items are from HomeGoods.
This is our formal living room. We gave the walls a coat of light gray paint and added in some updated furniture, lighting and accessories. Rug, lamps and accessories are all from HomeGoods.

[Teal Arm Chair (Similar)]
Here are some shots of the formal dining room that we converted into a sitting area. We actually use it now, unlike when it was a dining room. 🙂

[Drum Chandelier/Swivel Recliners]
We love turning on the electric fireplace and having a glass of wine in our comfy recliners.

Have you tried Caress Fine Fragrance Body Wash yet? I absolutely LOVE it! The Love Forever fragrance smells like Valentine’s Day and it’s under $4 a bottle. The scent really does last up to 12 hours. I woke up in the middle of the night sniffing my arm last night.

Meet Grover, he’s our iRobot Roomba and I can’t remember what we did before he came along. But I do remember dog hair tumbleweeds collecting in all the corners of our house. I set Grover to run once a day and we never see those pesky hair balls anymore. If you have pets and don’t have one yet, do whatever it takes to get one. I promise you will thank me!
