Want to know what the most burning question has been on GYPO readers’ lips lately? I’ll bet you can guess from the title.
How the heck do you wear ankle boots?!?
They’re cute, no doubt, but these little buggers can be a bit tricky to style. When I bought my first pair, they sat in the closet for almost an entire season with no wear. When I finally got up the nerve to pair them with some jeans, I was hooked and eager to find other ways to wear them. Before long, I was experimenting with all kinds of ways to pair them up and ready to add to my ankle boot collection.
Here are five of my favorite ways to pair up ankle boots.
1. Ankle Boots with Ankle Jeans
Well, duh, that just makes sense, right? Ankle jeans were practically made for ankle boots and retailers are getting on the bandwagon with this trend. There’s hardly a store you’ll walk into this fall that doesn’t have some cute ankle jeans that are the perfect length to fall just above your ankle boots.
2. Ankle Boots with Cuffed Skinny Jeans
If your skinny jeans are longer than ankle length, just cuff them right above the top of your boot. Easy peasy!
3. Ankle Boots with Boyfriend Jeans
Take a cue from Rosie Huntingdon-Whiteley and pair your slouchy boyfriend jeans with a cute pair of ankle boots. Throw on a t-shirt, scarf and jacket and you’re instantly chic for fall.
Or try the trend with a military jacket and white tee.
4. Ankle Boots With Socks
Scrunch some wool socks above your ankle boots when pairing them with skinny jeans or leggings for a cute and cozy look.
5. Ankle Boots With Dresses/Skirts
Swap out your typical heels and try a pair of tights with ankle boots this fall. It’s a modern look that’s sure to instantly update your outfit.

Do you have a pair of gray jeans yet? If not, now is a great time to pick up a pair. When I did my shopping “scouting mission” for the Fall Style Me Pretty Challenge recently, gray jeans were front and center for fall in just about every store.
I already had a pair but couldn’t help picking up another pair of my favorite ankle jeans. Remember last week when I said I got them in four different colors? These gray clean cuffed skinny ankle jeans are quickly making their way to the top of my list of favorite fall items.
Gray jeans are incredibly versatile. Here are five easy ideas for pairing them up this fall.
I’ll be featuring each of these ways throughout the fall starting with today’s transitional look pairing gray jeans with jewel tones. When I saw this peacock blue tunic, I knew it would go great with these jeans. It’s a very simple outfit that works for so many things. If ankle boots aren’t your thing, swap them out for a pair of leopard print flats.

Fall just seems to beckon for adventure, doesn’t it? After the long, brutal summers we endure in Texas, it’s no wonder fall is my favorite time of the year. Our family takes every opportunity we can to get out and enjoy the crisp cool mornings and clear afternoons. One of our all-time favorite fall activities is taking a hike and breathing in the autumn air.
Our family loves adventure so I’m thrilled to be partnering with Jambu, a company that embraces the adventurous life. Their line of footwear is designed to empower people to love their journey through life. I’m sharing some of my favorite tips for embracing everyday adventures on a stylish foot with Jambu in October’s issue of Redbook. Be sure to pick up a copy and check it out.
The luxurious leather Perla bootie perfectly blends style with function. Hyper Grip technology provides the ultimate in traction for inclement weather. We may not get a lot of snow in Texas but our ice storms are no joke. A sturdy boot like this is a must-have in the winter months for getting around on slick surfaces. Not to mention it’s really cute and comfy too!

Let’s talk about blazers today. If you think they’re too dressy for your everyday, or it’s been awhile since you’ve bought one or worn one, then it’s time to get back on the blazer bandwagon. They have the power to turn an ordinary t-shirt and jeans into something extraordinary. With fall just around the corner, it’s the perfect time to try one in place of your standby cardigan.
First, some Pin-spiration.
Camel + Chambray
The relaxed vibe of a soft chambray shirt is perfect under a camel or tweed blazer. Pair it up with black jeans and your favorite animal print heels or flats.

Olive + Boyfriend Jeans
Olive is one of the “it” colors for fall. Try the trend with a fitted blazer, boyfriend jeans, an over sized scarf and some oxfords.

Navy + Stripes
This classic combo is timeless and works for every season. For a fall vibe, try it with a cognac tote and a printed scarf.

Red + Leopard
You just can’t go wrong with red and leopard. Add your favorite chic riding boots to complete this fall classic.

Birthdays really should last more than one day, am I right? If possible, I’d like to celebrate all month long. Since I can’t do that (and quite frankly, my family would get tired of it really quickly) I do at least stretch it out for a weekend. Even though my official birthday was on Sunday, this past weekend was all about me. 🙂
On Friday I got my hair cut and then did some “research” at the mall for the fall style challenge. If you’re following me on Instagram, you already know that this whole outfit came home with me.

On Saturday, I had my first surprise, Devon came home from college! That evening, we had a dinner party at our house. Craig cooked a delicious feast and invited my sisters and brothers-in-law. My brother-in-law Victor brought me my first ever pinata in the shape of a giraffe. It was almost too cute to crack open, but we did anyway.
After dinner, we had my all-time favorite cake, the Berry Chantilly cake from Whole Foods. I could eat the whole thing myself. Then it was present time. In traditional Craig fashion, he tricked me by wrapping up a little box and hiding my real gift, a new Macbook Pro, in the bottom of the laundry basket. When I found it, I started crying. You have NO idea how long I’ve been waiting to get one. My dinosaur PC was five years old and gave me grief on a daily basis. The Mac learning curve has been a little steep but I’m getting the hang of it!
On my actual birthday, we went to brunch at my favorite Mexican restaurant and relaxed the rest of the day. It was so nice having Devon home and being able to celebrate as a complete family!
This is what I wore for our dinner party Saturday night. It felt good to get a little dressed up, even if we were just staying in.

Let’s talk about these jeans that I’m wearing for a minute. I love them so much that I walked out of Loft with four pairs in different colors. That NEVER happens! They are perfect in every way – great length for ankle boots, just right stretch, hold their shape, perfect rise. Just get them already, you’ll thank me later.
