If you have been excited about the fresh new content here at GYPO, then you’re in for a treat today. Today we have a brand new series premiering and it’s all about those comfort zone busting trends that you may not be sure about. It’s called “Yes, You CAN Wear” and each month we’ll be bringing you a new trend and showing you how YOU can wear it. Yes, really!
It’s all about stepping out of our comfort zones (just a little bit) but of course with the loving support and guidance you are used to finding at Get Your Pretty On.
One of the best things about Style Challenges by Get Your Pretty On is the mix of familiar, classic pieces with a few of the latest trends. Each season there’s at least one trend on the shopping list that our members are just a little unsure about. Do you want to know a secret? Most of the time, they ending up LOVING it! That’s what this series is all about.
Each month we’ll be tackling one of these trends and showing you exactly how our Style Challengers made it work for them!
The Yes, You CAN series is kicking off with one of the pieces from day eleven of the Style Challenges® Summer 2018 Capsule Wardrobe…
We reached out to the Summer 2018 Style Challenge members and asked them to tell us a little bit about their experience with trying graphic tees this summer.
We wanted to know what they thought about styling a graphic tee BEFORE the challenge and how they feel NOW.
Beth says: Before, “I did not own a graphic tee other than ‘company advertising’ tees. I didn’t even know where to look for a graphic tee!” Now, “I love graphic tees and am always on the lookout for tees that resonate with me and say something about me!”
Emma says: Before, “I was excited I have so many and I didn’t know how to properly style them.” Now, “I love them and glad I was given a cute way to style them.”
Lisa says: Before, “The only graphic tees I’ve owned historically were for college or professional teams, which was okay when I wanted to cheer for my hometown favorites. So I really didn’t see them as something to ‘style’.” Now, “I love how wearing a graphic tee can show a bit of the fun side of your personality.”
Beth / Emma / Lisa
Misty says: Before, “I’m too old for that.” Now, “I’m definitely not too old for that.”
Cathy says: Before, “I’m too old to carry off such a young look.” Now, “It’s FUN!!!”
Misty / Cathy
Kerry says: Before, “I haven’t worn a graphic tee (with the exception of a Blue Jays tee) in years. Honestly, I had never thought about adding one to my everyday wardrobe.” Now, “I love how it goes with so much and I feel great in it! Looking for more with cute sayings.”
Sam says: Before, “A little scared.” Now, “They have become a part of my wardrobe.”
Melissa says: Before, “I didn’t think someone my size or with my work environment/lifestyle could do it and still pull it off.” Now, “It feels like a fun treat to find a creative way to make something like a graphic tee work into my wardrobe when it normally wouldn’t. It’s my ‘spunky/fun day’ when I pull it off!”
You know how some days getting dressed is a breeze, and every piece you put on feels amazing? And then there are the other days; when everything you try on feels wrong. For those days, when finding an outfit that feels good is a struggle, I’ve put together some stylist tips for how to dress with confidence even when you have to push past the dissatisfaction with how you look so you can feel great in everything you wear.
How to Dress With Confidence
1. Know Your Shape
Understanding your body type is key to finding a truly flattering fit for your clothes. When your clothing fits well, you feel more comfortable, plus it’s easier to move around. Also, when you know which silhouettes work best for your body, you’ll be able to select pieces that complement your figure. I always recommend dressing for your shape, not your weight.
2. Accept Your Body
While wearing clothes that fit you well will definitely help you feel good, if you’re not satisfied with your body overall, you’ll never be comfortable in your skin. When I’m feeling self-conscious, whether it’s about my arms or stomach, I tend to fidget with my clothes. Sometimes it can take me 20 tries just to find an outfit I want to wear. On these days, I realize that it’s not the clothes causing the issue, but rather it’s my attitude about my body. Accepting our bodies as they are today is a major component of feeling great in what we wear.
3. Be Clear On What Suits Your Personality
The reality is there are a lot of styles out there that won’t be right for you. Maybe it’s because they’re the wrong cut for your body type, or they may not be your taste. It’s important to know what you like and want to wear so your style stays a strong reflection of who you are. This way you don’t end up looking like a fashion/trend victim, but instead, you always look like yourself. One way to know if something suits your personality is to ask the question, does this garment look like me? Your answer will tell you everything you need to know.
4. Have Fun
I realize that getting dressed comes easier on some days while other days it can be a struggle. As mentioned above, many times the difficulty of finding an outfit stems from my attitude, which can weigh me down. When I relax and lighten up, I can become more experimental with my style. It is then that I discover new looks, try out fresh ideas and enjoy myself in the process. This should be fun, and who doesn’t like having fun? A playful attitude goes a long way in helping you feel great in what you wear.
5. Learn From Your Mistakes
Since we all have some oops moments where we end up feeling terrible in our clothes, the way to benefit from this is to use it as an opportunity for learning. If I go out in a scratchy wool sweater that kept me itchy and hot all day, I’ll remember this when I’m shopping for sweaters, and test out the fabrics before I buy. If I feel self-conscious in a skirt because it seemed too short, I’ll know to layer leggings underneath next time, or let the hem down for more coverage. By zeroing in on what caused you to feel uncomfortable in your outfit, you give yourself the gift of learning what makes you happy.
Once you understand your shape, accept your body, have clarity around your taste, have fun with your style, and learn from your mistakes, you’re on track to feeling great in everything you wear. You’ve learned how to dress with confidence and when you’re happy with how you look, others will see this too.

Welcome to another edition of SAHMonday – outfit inspiration just for the stay at home and work from home moms of the world (like me!) who aren’t heading out of the house on Monday morning. Today we are going to talk about what to wear under a long cardigan, you can check out the other outfits in this series, like Styling a Striped Top, here.
These outfits are perfect for when you want to feel comfortable, yet put together so that you can face the day and any errands you may need to run. Plus, most of these outfit formulas can be pulled straight from your closet!
What to Wear Under a Long Cardigan – Two Ways
You’ve probably noticed that a lot of my outfits lately are reusing pieces from past Style Challenges – like this long cardigan and my ponte leggings. Today’s post is no exception and includes pieces from the past year of challenges including my white tee and burgundy tunic tee, riding boots and slip-on sneakers. I love having a closet full of mix and match staples that I can always find new ways to pair up. Just add accessories!
What to Wear Under a Long Cardigan Outfit #1
For my first outfit, I paired up my long cardigan with a white slouchy tee, my new light blue corduroy pants and riding boots. The statement necklace was from the Fall 2017 GYPO Style Challenge but is now sold out, I’ve linked up a similar one below the picture.
This is my first pair of ear climbers and I’m totally in love with them! They pair perfectly with statement necklaces.
For a more casual look, you can remove the statement necklace and replace it with a pendant necklace, or skip both!

What to Wear Under a Long Cardigan Outfit #2
This outfit is what I’ve been wearing lately for doing my Christmas decorating. There’s nothing comfier than a cardigan, tunic t-shirt, and leggings. Add black slip-on sneakers and a long necklace to complete it out.

Happy Monday pretties! I hope you had a super fantastic weekend. Mine was pretty much just that. Craig agreed to bring the Christmas decorations down from the attic before Thanksgiving. #winning So I spent the weekend in Christmas euphoria decorating the house. If you follow me on Instagram, you also know I did my fair share of Hallmark movie watching.
We rounded out the weekend with a beautiful day at Texas Rose Horse Park watching Ava compete with her horse Razzle at their year end show. She actually wept after one of her rounds because of the amount of progress they’ve made together this year. #perfectweekend

By now you probably know that I’m a basic t-shirt and jeans kind of girl but that can get a little boring. So anytime I see a cute tee with interesting details, I have to have it. It’s the little things that really make a difference! When I spied the cinched sleeves on this top I knew it would be one of those outfit making type of pieces.
When I got home, I immediately went to work pairing it up with other pieces in my closet. Here are three outfits created from it.
This is one of my basic no-fail SAHM outfit formulas that I wear all the time. Cute top, frayed hem jeans, long necklace and comfy ballet flats – it works like a charm!
Sizing Tip: I sized up in the top because I like it to fit more like a tunic. I’m wearing a size medium. The jeans fit true to size.
Let’s pause to talk about this velvet puffer vest for a second. If you add one thing to your winter wardrobe, let this be it! It is a MUST HAVE and honestly one of the most special things I’ve bought in a long, long time. It’s extremely well made and lined in satin and elevates any outfit (even a top and leggings) into the stratosphere!
Wearing a vest over this shirt allows the cute sleeves to show while a cardigan or coat would cover them up. Try a vest with your bell sleeve or ruffle sleeve tops this winter.
Sizing Tip: Use the sizing chart when ordering the vest. I’m wearing an XS and it’s cut generously. If in doubt, size down.
These ponte leggings are the go-to pair in my closet. They’re thick and feel more like pants than leggings to me which means extra coverage!
Let’s just agree that green and gray were made for each other! It’s hard to see in the picture but there’s a gray cord on this tassel necklace that ties the outfit together quite nicely.
Sizing Tip: The gray jeggings fit true to size but have a lot of stretch. If in doubt, size down.

I’ve been participating in the GYPO Style Challenges for three years now and I’ve loved it. I’ve always loved clothes, but I didn’t know how to put outfits together. My closet is now full of mix-and-match outfits, I have learned how to dress myself, and there is no more stress in figuring out to wear. The private FB group is full of wonderful ladies that build each other up. It’s so fun and is seriously the best group on FB.

Get Your Pretty On has changed my life, seriously. I have always chased what is trendy but found from season to season, that things go out of style and I was wasting money on items that I would only end up wearing a few times. GYPO has enabled me to simplify my closet, helps me make smarter purchasing decisions, and I feel so put together and confident using the outfit formulas that are provided. This program is a GAME CHANGER. I've been following GYPO for a few years now and my only regret is not jumping on board sooner.

Great community of ladies, helping each other look stylish, without breaking the bank, and using much of what you already own.
Chosen Faith November 19, 2019
GYPO challenges have been one of the best things I have done! It had taught me so much more than just creating a closet of clothes that I love but also to have confidence in myself, how to pick and choose colors that work for me instead of against, and had given a wonderful community of Pretties who are so special.
