Trend Spin | Emerald Green

Trend Spin | Emerald Green

When Laura at Walking in Memphis in High Heels asked me to co-host this week’s Trend Spin link up, I wasn’t quite sure what to wear.  The theme is emerald and despite it being last year’s Pantone Color of the Year, I didn’t think I had a piece of emerald in my closet.  (By the way, I don’t have any of this year’s color Radiant Orchid either.  Bad blogger!)

What I did find was this green shift dress that I got last fall from Simple Southern Style.  I had already paired it up two ways on the blog with casual and classy looks.  This time I tried out a different fashion persona with a sassy look.  I’m not sure where I’d wear the sassy look in real life but I guess that’s part of the fun of playing dress up.

Daily Style Diary | Entry One

Daily Style Diary | Entry One

You guys really know how to make a girl’s day, week, month.  Seriously.

The results of the reader survey are in.  And wow, I’m just completely blown away!  Thank you for being so open, so sweet, so honest.  I took the weekend to compile and analyze the feedback and will be reporting it in Wednesday’s post.

Until then…

One of the key pieces of feedback you gave me was that you want to see more outfits and more casual ones at that.  As a mom, I understand that you’re not wearing heels, carrying clutches or dressing up on a daily basis and neither am I.  I want my blog to be about style inspiration, not aspiration.  I hear you loud and clear so I’m going to start showing you what I’m really wearing on a daily basis.  Because my hubby is my photographer and he works full-time during the week, the selfie in the mirror is the only way to do this, so please forgive the quality.  We’ll still be doing our regular outfit photo shoots too.

If you’re following me on Instagram, the outfits will appear over there first before getting compiled into a diary entry for the blog.  I won’t be posting pics every single day but if there’s an outfit that I put together that I think you might like, I will be sure to post it.

Here are this past week’s entries in my Daily Style Diary.

Day One

I had a few questions on Instagram and in the comments section about the jeans in this photo.  The brand is Paige and they’re one of my favorite fitting pairs of jeans.  The exact pair that I’m wearing is HERE.

Mom-Outfit-Yoga-PantsAs you can see, I follow an outfit formula most of the time – skinny jeans + boots + a sweater + a few simple accessories.   I had to include the obligatory yoga pants picture because I actually went to yoga that day.  Don’t worry, I got dressed in real clothes later.  🙂

It’s Your Turn:  Do you have any easy outfit formulas you follow?  Share them with us in the comments!

I love closet pieces that can do double duty.  My new cable knit waterfall sweater from Good Night Macaroon is one of those pieces.  It’s great dressed up or down and helps me make the most out of my closet staples I already own.

If you missed Monday’s post,  be sure to stop by and check out Good Night Macaroon’s celebrity favorites, including these pieces worn by two of my style icons – Olivia Palermo and Miranda Kerr.  Plus, through midnight tonight save 20% on all of my Blogger’s Picks (offer details below).

The Next Thing You Need | Winter Workout Gear

The Next Thing You Need | Winter Workout Gear

So, how are those resolutions treating you?  We are ten days into the new year and if I’m being honest, I’m still struggling with getting back on the healthy living track.  I think part of the issue is the cold weather.  It makes me crave junk food and want to stay indoors in my PJ’s.

One way I’m hoping to get my motivation mojo back is with some new winter workout gear.  Our poor golden retriever is suffering from the effects of a long winter indoors.  She’s been begging me for an outside run for weeks.  It’s time to throw on some winter workout layers and get both of us out the door!

Here’s one of my favorite ways to layer up for an outside run on a cold winter day.

I Feel Pretty | Refreshed

I Feel Pretty | Refreshed

First off, thank you all SO MUCH for allowing me to take a couple of weeks away from the blogging world.  It was so good for my soul.  I got to spend lots of quality time with my family – watching movies, playing card games, taking the girls to get our nails done.  Hubby and I reconnected by going out on a real date night and getting a massage together.  I also tackled some long overdue home projects, like cleaning out the fridge and organizing our pantry.  It’s not Pinterest worthy, but it’s a heckuva lot better!  I even found time to take an online business course, read a book and set some 2014 goals for myself and GYPO.  It was definitely a much needed, productive and very refreshing break.

Thanks for coming back this week for the I Feel Pretty link up.  In case you missed yesterday’s post, I’m now one of the co-hosts of the new Beauty Buzz link up every Tuesday along with Lulu of Simply Lulu Style, Nicole of MomTrends, and Janise of Mama in Heels.  Each week, we’ll be taking turns hosting the link up and sharing beauty news you can use.  You’re invited to link up your beauty posts and join in the fun.  Check out yesterday’s link up HERE.

I also took advantage during my break to spend as much time in leggings as possible.  Real pants not required!  Here’s one of my warm and comfy looks featuring my favorite faux leather leggings.

My plum double breasted wool coat has been one of my closet staples for the past few winters.  The color works amazingly well with just about everything.  The one I have is no longer available but here’s a similar one on sale now for 33% off.

These faux leather leggings are also available for a steal.  They add a fun edge to your leggings outfits.  Pair them up with long chunky knit sweaters for a more subdued look.
